Can you help?

Asa

Asa is currently in a foster home in Taunton having come from a home where he had been for a year after being homed from boarding kennels.

He is 8 years old and very good with all dogs, including small ones.  Unfortunately he is not good with cats, although he has excellent manners in every other respect.  He can be let off the lead as he has learned a basic recall.

He is a lovely chap, affectionate and playful:  the foster carer who is currently looking after him in Taunton would love to keep him if she had the room.

Can you provide Asa with the loving home he deserves?

Please call Kim Woodgate on 01823 667560 to find out how.

What is the Retired Greyhound Trust?

The Retired Greyhound Trust (RGT) is a national charity dedicated to finding homes for greyhounds at the end of their racing careers.  It was set up in 1975 and since then has re-homed almost 40,000 greyhounds.  There are 70 branches of the Trust based right across the UK, from the Isle of Skye to Jersey.

What do we do?

  • Find homes for as many retired greyhounds as possible.
  • Place some retired greyhounds in approved kennels.
  • Seek out new people willing to give a retired greyhound a home and check that they are suitable.
  • Ensure that dogs placed in homes are healthy.
  • Highlight to the greyhound racing industry the importance of providing a good life for retired greyhounds.
  • Raise money to support its work.

Greyhounds make great pets!

The Retired Greyhound Trust believes greyhounds make wonderful pets and it works to ensure they have a good life following their racing careers.

Despite popular misconceptions, greyhounds in general, are:

  • Gentle and adaptable
  • Lazy couch potatoes happy with a couple of short walks a day
  • Loving companions who can live easily with children and other pets.

See for yourself:  contact your nearest branch and arrange to go and meet some of the dogs.
